As announced at the beginning of the year, the commercial mission that had been several months in preparation was carried out from May 31 to June 5 last in the American Midwest. In all, seven member companies of The Elastomer Valley or la Vallée de la Plasturgie took part in the mission to this region, known as the heart of elastomers in the United States, and were able to make promising business connections. Accompanying these companies were Claude Harvey, Niche Director, Roxanna Giraldez, of Carrefour Québec International (CQI), and Virginia Hill, business meeting consultant.
In all, 32 confirmed business meetings were secured plus 50 potential meetings with companies which were unable to meet with us during that week.
On the niche level, we had very interesting meetings with the Ohio Polymer Association and the University of Akron, known internationally for the advanced training they provide to engineers and chemists in the elastomer field. These meetings allowed us to compare the advances of our respective organizations and to pave the way for future collaborations.
